My approach
My therapeutic approach is firmly rooted in my values and beliefs about healing, love, and relationships.
At our core, humans are relational creatures. We look for connection in ourselves and others for safety, belonging, love, care, understanding, growth, and healing. We experience harm, pain, grief, and trauma through our relational experiences: our family of origin, our friendships, partnerships, and larger societal systems.
Yet the most powerful healing also takes place in our connection and vulnerability with others. It is in our relationships that we learn the depth of our belonging, we experience new understandings of ourselves, and get to experience love through action (a concept gratefully originating from bell hooks).
I see the therapeutic relationship as a landing pad to explore, practice, and engage with all our parts that long for, struggle with, and thrive in deep connection, again, to ourselves, our beloveds, and our community. I work from an attachment based, anti-oppressive, QTBIPOC, neurodivergent affirmative, anti-pathology, systemic framework. Clients find that I am directive and skillful in offering specific interventions and supports to overtly change what is not working.
Individual and relational clients that work with me consistently share the difference in my approach, the strength of the therapeutic container, and the quickness they notice change.
